Upcoming 2021 Summer Litters

We are excited to announce that Kona Rose has had successful pairing with our boy Raging River and so we are now looking forward to their AKC litter arriving on or around July 2nd!  Their litter should include blacks, chocolates, classic yellows and white chocolate puppies.  We will not be taking additional reserves on their litter but if once the pups arrive we have more puppies than reserves then we will post their availability.

Both Mindy and Katie have started their heat cycles so we will post updates once we have successful pairings for them.  Reserves are now open for their AKC litters. Their litter should include blacks, chocolates, classic yellows and white chocolate puppies.   To submit an Advanced Reserve Application and secure a position in line CLICK HERE

Then we are looking for our girls Sundae and Summer to start their heat cycles in June with a late summer/early fall litter.

After their heat cycles start and we have confirmed pairings we will be back in touch to give the potential delivery dates and so on.

Just a bit about the process …

All Desert Wind Labrador litters are born in our home with us in attendance. Although most of our girls are very self sufficient and need little assistance some need more paw holding. Either way we stay with them to help is necessary. When the litter arrives we typically wait 24-48 hours to make sure Momma and babies are all doing well. Then we send out an Email Birth Announcement with first pictures.

NOTE: During the Covid 19 time of restrictions all Open House Events and Facility Visits are on hold.  Once we get past the time of lockdown we will re-evaluate how best to host such gatherings.  Thank you for your understanding.

Puppies are weaned and ready to go at 49 days old (if shipping is necessary, 8 weeks). If you decide to pick up your puppy or have him/her delivered, we can usually do this between the 7th and 8th week.

There is a lot of discussion and some “experts” advise bringing your puppy home at 7 weeks. This is a generalization for all puppies and not necessarily pertinent to Labrador Retrievers. It all depends on how the litter is managed from birth until the puppy is placed in a home. The main concern seems to be nurturing and socialization.

At the Desert Wind we handle the puppies from birth so we are actively involved in their nurturing and socialization from the very beginning. This allows us to observe their interaction and sometimes intervene to assist the weaker pups with getting the proper nutrition and personalized attention.  All our puppies come with a Limited AKC or CKC registration,  Health Record showing their first shots and parasite treatments, and a 1 year Written Guarantee against genetic defects (eye and hip). For Full Kennel Club Registration there is an additional $500 fee.

Prices are as follows: All Puppies with Limited Registration – All colors – Male or Female are $1250. With Full Registration with Breeding Rights – All colors – Male or Female are $1750

The only difference in the 2 registrations is the Breeding Rights, either way the pup is 100% registered to you and 100% purebred Labrador retriever.
